In android smartphones, you can also lock your application with passcodes in oredr to prevent unauthorized access to your private data such as contacts, text messages, photos, email, calendar etc. That can be used for better security option in phones.

This can be done with the help of a smart application named as AppLock. It includes advanced features such as lock delay, location exclusion, app search, better UIs and different customization options.

Every time you open a protected app, it will ask for passkey. You will have to enter correct passkey to access the app.
The initial passcode is 8888. And you are strongly advised to get a new passcode. Go to Settings to set a new passcode. FYI, you need to key in the correct passcode to access the Settings as well as the Protection List options.
