How to convert nrg image to iso image

Before going in detail about this article, i want you to know about NRG and ISO files. If you know about these, you can skip the first section of the article and read the conversion part.

DISK Image:

DISK image is a kind of archive files which collects all the files of a  CD, DVD or storage media in the original structure. It is created by creating a complete sector-by-sector copy of the source medium and thereby perfectly replicating the structure and contents of a storage device.

These are the main 2 formats which we generally see in our daily work

NRG Image Format:

NRG is the image format for CD/DVD image format used by NERO Burning Rom to burn a CD/DVD. Intially this format was only supported by NERO but some other tools now support this file format. These kind of disk images are created by NERO. 

ISO image Format:

It is the standard disk image format by ISO (International Organization for Standardization). It is supported by all available CD/DVD burning tools.

Many image burning software only support iso image extension, but what if you have an image file with nrg extension. I have a good solution for that. There are many software tools which easily convert nrg files to iso files in some simple steps.


Follow these steps

1. Download  convert3iso from the given link

2. Choose NRG to ISO in the Option
3. Select source iso file
4. define target path and then click on convert.

Now you will have an ISO disk image converted from NRG disk image.

If you have NERO and use it to create disk images, I will suggest you to create ISO disk images. By default it burns NRG disk image but also have an option for ISO. That will reduce the conversion step.

How to Disable System Tray On Windows

System Tray is a special feature on Windows System. It can be found at the bottom right corner of the windows. System Tray has few icons of programs which are running in background. Many times, these icons also allow users to change few settings of that program. But very less people use it. If you are one of those persons who want to remove it from system, a simple registry tweak can help you.


This tweak will work on all version of windows including Windows XP, Windows vista and Windows 7. 


Open regedit.exe in your system and follow the following path.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Here create a new 32-bit DWORD value in the right side with the value

Name: NoTrayItemsDisplay
Value: 1

Now restart your system to see the effect.


If you want to get your system try back, you can either remove this registry key or change its value to 0.

Note: By removing System try, you are only hiding system tray. All system try apps will continue run in the background. If you do not need any application running in the system  try, you can disble manually

Recover Lost Files in Hard Disk, Memory Card and USB Drive

What if you have formatted your USB Drive? Or you have deleted an important file from your system of Pen drive? You can still recover these deleted files. There is a nice windows tool which is available for free. This tool is DiskDigger which is able to recover all type of lost documents and files.


DiskDigger is able to recover files from FAT (FAT12, FAT16, FAT32), NTFS, and exFAT partitions.

Download this tool and run in your system. You will see the list of drives available in the system. Select the drive from which you want to recover files. Then click on and next to start recovery process.

While recovering files, you can pause or stop the process at anytime. TO recover the file, click on Save. But there is no option to recover all files at once. You need to recover files on by one.

How to Clear File Search History in Windows 7

Windows 7 has a built in search bar in windows explorer. You can search anything direct from there. When you click on th search bar, it also shows previously typed search queries (MRU). These are also used in autocomplete search. But sometimes we want to clear some search term from the history. There is no direct way is gven to remove search queries from the search. So here is a way with the help of registry editor.

To clear the entire Search MRU History from the registry directly, use these steps:


1. Click Start, type Regedit.exe and press ENTER.


2. Navigate to the following branch:


HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> CurrentVersion --> Explorer --> WordWheelQuery


3. Right-click the WordWheelQuery branch and choose Delete


4. Exit the Registry Editor.

Remove Write Protection On Memory Cards and USB Drives

Many times we see some write protection error while using memory cards and USB drive. These errors may include write protection errors as you can see in the snap below.

This type of problem caused by virus. Few months back, i also faced the same problem. So i found a nice solution. 

There are two ways of doing this

1. Using Registry Editor
2. Using PenDrive repair tool
3. Apacer Formatting Utility

Using Registry Editor

In this method, we will change some values in window registry. TO do this follow these steps:

• Open Registry Editor by clicking on Star Menu --> Run. Now type “regedit” in run dialog box and you will see your Registry Editor opened.
• Now Navigate to the following path in the registry editor:
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
• If there is no StorageDevicePolicies key in your system then download this .Reg File and double click on it. Now restart your computer and it will add Storage DevicePolicies key in your windows registry.
• Now double click on the WriteProtect and make its value 0 and than click OK.
• Now close registry editor and restart your system.
• Now plug your memory card or USB in and enjoy non write protected memory card.

How to shutdown windows 8

Some users will find it difficult to find an option to shutdown the Windows 8. There is no start menu in the windows 8 and there is no direct option for shutdown the system. If you are also in those users who are still searching for the button to shut down the windows 8, read below. 
Take you mouse to the lower right corner of the screen. Here you will see a pop-up screen displaying some icons. Click on settings icon and then click on power icon. Here you will see  three options: Sleep, Restart, and Shut down. Now click on shut down to turn off your windows.

You can also shutdown windows 8 by the traditional keyboard shortcut Alt+F4. That will bring up a dedicated Shut down screen where you can choose to put the PC to sleep, restart, or shut down completely. 

laptop users can also customize their power options to set shutdown to the power button. After that, they can shutdown the windows just by pressing power button.  All you have to do is put your mouse at the bottom-left corner of the screen until the “Charms” menu appears. Click on Settings, and a bar will appear on the right side of the screen. Select Power, then Shut Down.

How to position a window on desktop using keyboard

If you want to position a window on your desktop more accurately, you should try to position it with arrow key. Because use of keyboard is better than mouse in this case.

If the window is on forground then press Alt+spacebar. Then press "M" key. Now use the arrow keys to move the windows around desktop to move the program window. To set the position press enter or press Esc to return to the previous position.

1. Download QTTabBar and install it in your system
2. After the installation, you will see a new tool bar in windows explorer. 
3. Now right click on the empty space of this tool bar and open QTTabBar's extensive Options menu.
   
4. To open a new tab, press ctrl+N. It will open a clone of the current tab in new tab.
   
5. Press ctrl+tab to easily navigate between tabs, and you can see folder contents easily by clicking a tab's icon. 

Set permanent delete on delete key

DEL key is used for delete and file and send it to the recycle bin in windows. Recycle is used to recover those files which have been deleted accidently. But most of the people do not use only delete button to delete files. They use shift+ del to delete the file permanent. For those people, it is better to set permanent delete on DEL key. Thus they do not need to press shift+ del key to delete a file permanently.


Follow these steps:

• Click on start and then run.
• Type gpedit.msc in the box and press enter. It will open a group policy window. 
• Navigate to the User Configuration - >Administrative Templates
•   >Windows Components>Windows Explorer
• In the right side settings menu double click--Donot move deleted file to Recycle bin.
• >click OK.

Now you have done. Delete the file anytime and it will not go to the recycle bin

Many times we need to capture the screenshot of the webpage. Suppose you want to show some errors to your friend or any thing else. In these cases, we need to take screenshot of the web page. You can also take screenshot of the page by using "Prnt scrn" button on the keyboard. But it can only capture the current screen. It will not capture page after scroll. So is there any permanent solution?

After clicking on the done, you can either save the image to the local hard drive or copy to clip board. Now you have the image, use it as you want.

How to remove a program from Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs Section

This is a cool trick which remove a program from the Add/Remove program list in the control panel. But why would i remove a program from that list. yeah i know this is the question in your mind. But think if you have deleted the program by removing all files, it is still showing the icon in this list. In this case this trick will help you. You can also do this to prevent unauthorized uninstalltion of your software.




Follow these steps
1.Open RegEdit 
2.Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Uninstall 
3.Delete any programs here. 
If you have a problem locating the desired program open each key and view the DisplayName value


Note: Make sure to backup your registry.

How to disable splash screen in Outlook Express

Outlook express is the default email client in windows operating system. Most of the business person who use windows operating system, configure their email id with this popular email client to access emails. But Outlook express has a splash screen which takes time in loading. You can remove this splash screen with a simple registry tricks.






Follow these steps:
1. Click on start --> run and type regedit and press enter. This will open registry editor windows.
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\OutLook Express 
3. Add a string value "NoSplash" 
4. Set the value data to 1 as a Dword value


Note: Make sure to take backup of your registry

2. In the virtual machine, click on USB and then attach. 
3. Then it will install the device drivers. Now you can use the device on the virtual machine. But after the use of the device you must be release it.
4. TO release the device back to your host window, click on the USB and then click on release.
